Overview
Community Inclusion Leader (SCL Grade) - 39 hour full-time position. The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of carers and manage the day-to-day coordination of the day service unit. The role supports services within the framework of New Directions, using an outcome-based, individualised approach to supports for people with intellectual disabilities. The aim is to ensure individuals have access to a wide range of community-based services and opportunities to meet their needs, interests and desires.
Key Responsibilities
* Management: Leads and manages day services from an operational perspective, working with the Assistant CEO; supports strategic development of day services.
* Ensure services are delivered in a person-centred manner, aligned with the Philosophy, Ethos and Core Values of St Aidan's Services.
* Provide supports within the framework of New Directions, an outcomes-based approach to supports and services for people with intellectual disabilities.
* Lead, motivate and support day service leads and staff; ensure induction and ongoing development through supervision and training.
* Lead & manage Day Services; represent the service on external Steering Groups/Committees/Working Groups; manage admissions and discharges.
* Act as liaison between other services/schools and St Aidan's Services regarding school leavers/new referrals.
* Carry out assessments of support needs to identify required supports for new referrals.
* Put in place transition plans for individuals transitioning from children’s services to adult services or between providers.
* Attend referral/transition meetings and collaborate with individuals and families/guardians to develop individualized support plans.
* Act as Safeguarding Designated Officer (DO) – attend DO training, achieve DO certification, and provide DO support to the organisation.
* Ensure services are delivered cost-effectively within allocated staffing and financial resources.
* Client Supports: ensure each person is treated with respect and dignity, pursuing a "good life" for each person.
* Promote a Human Rights Based Approach and involve individuals/decision supporters in decision-making.
* Seek new interests and opportunities for people supported to develop meaningful community roles.
* Coordinate supports for work experience/employment opportunities through job coaching and mentoring; build community links to increase opportunities.
* Support health and wellbeing across all areas of life; oversee skills development and confidence building in day services.
* Oversee that care/support plans are prepared, implemented and updated in line with New Directions.
* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and other agencies to review service quality and respond to concerns.
* Promote capacity building and apply least restrictive practices where appropriate.
* Maintain a pleasant atmosphere in day services and ensure effective systems for consultation with people we support and families/carers.
* Compliance & Regulations: roll out national policies, ensure adherence to standards and regulations, coordinate internal audits, submit KPIs, and manage complaints and risk management.
* Ensure records and documentation are kept up to date and that medicines are stored and administered in line with policy.
* Staff Management: delegate appropriately, supervise and develop staff, oversee workforce planning, rostering and performance management; facilitate training and ensure clear communication across services.
Qualifications & Experience
* Hold a Degree in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, or equivalent (validated by QQI).
* Management qualification (advantageous).
* Several years' experience in Disability Services.
* Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience as a Social Care Professional.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles if required.
* Legal right to work in Ireland and valid work authorisation.
Required Skills & Attributes
* Specialist knowledge of the Intellectual Disability sector and current approaches to ID services.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation/regulations/standards and ability to implement them.
* Strong relationship-building with key stakeholders (HSE, people supported/guardians).
* Ability to reorganise and restructure services to deliver improvements and efficiencies.
* Excellent leadership, motivation, interpersonal and communication skills.
* Commitment to service values, planning, resource management and value for money.
* Strong organisational and time management skills; ability to meet objectives and deliver quality results.
* Excellent report writing skills.
