About the Project:
This project focuses on transforming semi-solid by-products and effluents from the meat industry into renewable energy sources.
* Anaerobic digestion (AD) will be applied to produce biogas for energy use,
* Pyrolysis will be used to create biochar for carbon sequestration, supporting both energy generation and sustainable waste management.
The project aims to scale up existing research findings to a pilot system, develop an economic model, and design a digital twin to support broader industrial adoption.The European Green Deal emphasizes transitioning towards sustainable processes and circular economy principles. Valorizing waste materials through technological processes like AD and pyrolysis aligns with these objectives.
