Senior Controls / Automation Engineer (Permanent)An opportunity is available for an experienced Controls / Automation Engineer to join a well-established and growing multidisciplinary engineering team delivering bespoke automated equipment solutions. This permanent role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to commissioning and handover, working on high-tech automation systems for regulated manufacturing environments.The role is suited to a hands-on automation specialist with deep expertise in machine control software development and a strong background in complex automated equipment.Role OverviewJoin a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team delivering automated equipment solutions from concept to full implementation.Take ownership of machine control system software design, development, and commissioning.Operate as a technical specialist in automated machine programming.Work on the design and delivery of advanced, high-tech engineering applications within regulated industries.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and integrate control system software for automated machinery, including PLCs, robotics, motion control, HMI, SCADA, and vision systems.Develop, test, commission, and support machine control software across multiple projects.Support the generation of validation documentation required for regulated industries, including URS, FDS, FAT, and related deliverables.Specify control system hardware and software components.Collaborate closely with project stakeholders within a multidisciplinary team throughout the full project lifecycle.Provide technical direction and mentoring support to other members of the controls team.Experience & Technical Skills10+ years' experience in equipment automation, with strong PLC and HMI expertise essential (Allen-Bradley preferred).Expert knowledge of automated machine design, specification, and development.Proven hands-on experience with robotics, motion control, machine vision, pneumatics, and related automation technologies.Personal Attributes & RequirementsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Proactive, energetic, and solution-oriented mindset.Strong organisational and time management skills.Quality-focused approach with strong problem-solving ability.Ability to work effectively within multifunctional and multidisciplinary teams.Full driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally as required.
