How will this role have impact? The Senior Data Scientist's role is to transform data into critical insights with respect to core and new products that can be used to make rational decisions by:
Responsibilities
* Collecting and preparing data for analysis — cleansing and data wrangling
* Creating models to evaluate the data — statistical, visual, and machine learning
* Evaluating models and refining as needed — assessing performance and potential improvements
* Delivering solutions based on the model and communicating their value and use
Expat role details: This role reports directly to the Director of Data Science and is open to hybrid candidates who can be in the Galway office two days a week.
Qualifications and Experience
* BS or MS degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field. Advanced degree preferred.
* 5–7 years of professional data science experience (3+ years with advanced degree) with a track record of delivering high-impact data science solutions.
* Solid understanding of high-level product architecture and data flow patterns.
* Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with others.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to tell a clear, concise, actionable story with data to stakeholders.
* Experience with statistical analysis, hypothesis testing and data visualization.
* Proficient programming in Python and SQL.
* Experience in building cloud-native analytical solutions on Azure, GCP or similar.
* Experience in designing/developing/deploying supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, time series modeling, ensemble methods, and deep learning models.
* Experience in designing/developing/deploying Generative AI and/or NLP-based solutions using LLMs is desirable.
* Experience working with sensitive healthcare data.
Additional Responsibilities
* Mine and analyze data, applying statistical methods to identify critical insights for core and new products.
* Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.
* Translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement.
* Build accurate and impactful predictive machine learning models to be used by colleagues.
* Provide up-to-date model recommendations based on performance.
* Collaborate with and mentor junior data science teammates.
* Comply with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA.
