Excel Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join the Assessment and Intervention Team in Co. Cavan. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a frontline service responding to child protection and welfare concerns within a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment.
As a Social Worker, you'll carry a diverse caseload involving initial assessments, safety planning, and early interventions – playing a vital role in safeguarding children and supporting families through early-stage engagement.
This is an ongoing contract role (35hrs per week).
Responsibilities of this Social Worker job:
1. Conduct timely assessments of referrals received by the team in line with TUSLA's National Approach to Practice (Signs of Safety).
2. Develop and implement safety plans and short-term interventions for families, ensuring that children's welfare remains central.
3. Liaise with schools, healthcare professionals, An Garda Síochána, and other key stakeholders to inform assessments and promote joined-up responses.
4. Build trusting, respectful relationships with children and families, supporting them to engage in the assessment process.
5. Maintain high-quality case notes, reports, and assessments in compliance with legal, policy, and organisational standards.
6. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, supervision, and CPD activities as part of a professional, collaborative team.
Requirements of this Social Worker job:
7. Bachelor or Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised by CORU.
8. Must be registered with CORU.
9. Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience, ideally within child protection, child welfare, or early intervention services.
10. Understanding of Children First Guidelines, Child Care Act 1991, and relevant legislation.
11. Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential due to travel across the Cavan area.
