Role Purpose
The Business Applications Manager is responsible for the effective management, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's business systems. This hands‑on role requires deep understanding of business applications, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate operational needs into system functionality. Managing a small team of SAP Business One and PowerBI specialists, the manager leads process mapping, manages application‑related projects, and ensures systems support efficient, compliant, and scalable business operations.
Responsibilities include working closely with the PMO team and technical teams to support application upgrades and software implementations where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary owner for divisional or organisational business applications, including SAB Business One, Asana, Business Central, PDM, etc.
Configure, maintain, and optimise key systems to meet evolving business needs.
Work with local teams to troubleshoot system issues, coordinate fixes, and manage escalations with vendors or internal IS teams.
Ensure systems are secure, stable, and aligned with architecture and governance standards.
Lead business process analysis, mapping end‑to‑end workflows across functions.
Identify inefficiencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Work with stakeholders to redesign processes, embed controls, and ensure alignment with system capabilities.
Manage the full lifecycle of application‑related projects, including upgrades, implementations, integrations, and enhancements.
Develop project plans, manage risks, allocate resources, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Coordinate testing, training, change management, and post‑implementation support.
Provide regular project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
Act as the bridge between business teams, systems team, and third‑party vendors.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
Provide user support, training, and knowledge transfer for new or existing system functionality.
Facilitate user groups, feedback loops, and continuous improvement sessions.
Ensure business applications support accurate and consistent data capture.
Collaborate with data teams to enhance reporting structures and dashboards.
Work with system owners to resolve data quality issues related to application use.

Essential Skills & Experience

Hands‑on experience managing or supporting business‑critical applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, HRIS, WMS, finance or operational systems).
Strong business process mapping skills using tools such as Visio.
Proven project management experience (formal qualifications desirable but not required).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to support both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
Experience working with and developing small teams.
Understanding of data, including hands‑on experience with MS SQL, T‑SQL and SQL DB administration.
Willingly travel mainly around Europe for business support.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in system implementations or major system upgrades.
Knowledge of integration technologies, APIs, or data flows.
Familiarity with ITIL processes or digital transformation frameworks.
Relevant qualifications such as Prince2, Agile, or LEAN/BPM training.
Exposure to maintaining PHP solutions.
