Senior Cloud Network Engineer - Physical Network role at Microsoft. Join the Azure Hyperscale Physical Network team to operate and automate the world’s largest cloud network for AI, focusing on design/architecture, operational readiness, and automation to create a reliable, self-healing, scalable network for AI workloads.

Responsibilities
* Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
* Contributes to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
* Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
* Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
* Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
* Stays current in skills by investing time to stay abreast of developments that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products, while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
* Technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
* Education options:
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
* Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
* Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* Experience in networking, scripting, and software development. Familiarity with network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper).
* Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix and Windows servers.
* Experience with writing automation in Python, PowerShell or C#.
* Experience with writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, XML, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems.
Other Qualifications
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
* Technical experience in network design, development, and automation (including production delivery and live-site accountability for a network).
* Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals and IP networking concepts (MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Anycast).
* Experience managing and troubleshooting large-scale networks.
* Leadership, coordination, and teamwork skills; ability to work independently on complex tasks.
* Motivated to drive leading-edge technologies and a solid understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, and AnyCast.
Security and Compliance
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check required on hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
