Location: Newry
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:00pm (part-time or flexible hours may be considered)

We are now seeking a skilled and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join our finance team in Newry. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance function, and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations.
* Process supplier invoices, payments, and customer receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
* Prepare and reconcile VAT returns.
* Support payroll preparation and related record-keeping.
* Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
* Maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
* Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve invoice or payment queries.
* Work closely with the wider team — counter staff, drivers, yard staff, and management — to ensure smooth financial operations.
* Support the Financial Controller with ad-hoc projects and process improvements.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
* Strong knowledge of accounting systems (experience with Sage, Xero, or similar software preferred).
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Confident with Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
* Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise across teams and with external contacts.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive finance team.
