OverviewThe role of the Chief II Pharmacist will be to deputise for/support the Pharmacy Executive Manager (PEM) and lead on Medication Safety and further development of clinical pharmacy services within the hospital.The Chief II Pharmacist will have a key role supporting the Pharmacist Executive Manager and will contribute to the Medicines Management clinical and corporate governance within the hospital, working with senior colleagues from other disciplines and departments.The Chief II Pharmacist should demonstrate: a broad clinical pharmaceutical knowledge and an understanding of the role of Clinical Pharmacistleadership and team management skills including the ability to work with multi disciplinary team membersevidence of effective planning and organising skills including awareness of resource management and importance of value for moneyeffective problem solving strategies, including the ability to be flexible and innovative in these challenging timesa quality focus, an openness to change and the ability to effectively manage changeeffective communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner and deliver complex information in understandable termsexcellent interpersonal skills including the ability to empathise with and treat patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respecta working knowledge of standard PC softwareEssential Criteria.Professional Qualifications, Experience, etcCandidates must,(i)Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered and(ii) Have at least five years satisfactory post registration hospital experience and(iii) Possess a high standard of administrative, managerial or business ability and(iv)Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office 2.Age Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.3.HealthA candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.4.4.CharacterEach candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good characterSkills & CompetenciesCavMon2415 Chief II Pharmacist Job Spec Dec 25 Final
