As a Sr Director of Quality Engineering, you will lead a team of skilled Test Automation Engineers, guiding them in the relentless pursuit of excellence across Workday's suite of Applications. You will collaborate with leaders in Development, Product Management, and Quality Assurance to plan, design, and execute automation testing strategies that integrate quality into every facet of our products.
Responsibilities
* Lead and Inspire: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of quality and automation engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Define the Vision: Develop and implement a long-term strategy for Quality Engineering that aligns with our product roadmap and business objectives. Champion a holistic view of quality including functionality, performance, security, and reliability.
* Embed Quality: Partner with leaders across Product Engineering to embed quality principles throughout the software development lifecycle, from ideation to production.
* Drive Technical Excellence: Guide the architectural direction of test automation frameworks and infrastructure. Promote the adoption of modern tools and techniques for efficient testing.
* Champion Data-Driven Quality: Define and analyze key quality metrics to provide clear, actionable insights into product quality and engineering process health. Use data to guide decisions and investments.
* Operational Leadership: Own budget, resource planning, and operational execution for the Quality Engineering department.
About You
Basic Qualifications
* 10+ years of software quality experience with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above) managing managers and individual contributors.
* Deep knowledge of test automation architecture, modern CI/CD practices, and a variety of testing methodologies (unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, security).
* Experience leading engineering teams that build tools, libraries, and frameworks.
* Experience with cloud platforms.
* Strategic ability to think and implement a roadmap for a function.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

Instead of a fixed number of in-office days, we require spending at least 50% of time each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).
