Civil Project Engineer vacancy in Athlone / North Tipperary. Our client is involved in the construction and maintenance of roads across the country. For this position, you will need 5+ years’ experience in road maintenance or transport infrastructure.
Your New Role: The Project Engineer will be involved in the planning, supervision, and delivery of Works Orders consisting of routine and non-routine maintenance on 343 structures on the National Road and Motorway Network. The engineer will ensure compliance with the contract specifications and TII’s specifications and requirements. They will be involved in surveying and assessing the network infrastructure and identifying defects and potential improvements which may be proposed to the employer for inclusion in future work order programmes. The role involves monitoring and implementing the highest standards in health and safety, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations. Managing packages of works with direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring the efficient use of plant, labour, and materials in the delivery of works.
Responsibilities:
1. Site setting out and supervision.
2. Planning and coordinating gangs and subcontractors.
3. Quantifying and implementing project proposals for internal & client review.
4. Compiling budget costing for the commercial team.
5. Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with local authority contacts, TII representatives, emergency services, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
6. liaising with TII representatives regarding works & surveys.
7. Producing, documenting, and maintaining all RFI’s, TQ’s, CVI’s, Variation Orders, etc., appropriate to each work order.
8. Managing the delivery of works compliant with contract standards.
9. Ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance of all works.
10. Ensuring all employees and subcontractors comply with company and legislative HSE standards.
11. Implementing traffic management in accordance with standards.
12. Monitoring, controlling, and reporting subcontractor work performance and quality.
13. Maintaining daily production records and site data logs.
14. Compiling information for the safety file for all work orders.
15. Preparing and delivering reports as required.
16. Communicating progress and issues to line managers and senior management.
17. Delivering projects within timelines, budgets, and scope.
18. Representing the company in meetings with stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Civil/Construction or related degree.
* Industry-recognized safety training.
Skills:
* Project cost management.
* Self-starter with strong planning and management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and reporting skills.
* Adaptable and flexible.
* IT skills and full driving license.
* Fluent English.
Key Experience:
* Civil engineering or road maintenance experience.
* Experience with TII standards.
* Experience with traffic management is desirable.
* Knowledge of surface water drainage, pavements, or related fields.
* Understanding of highway regulations and health & safety policies.
