Role Profile
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Horticulturist to join our busy team in Co. Waterford. As a valued member of the team, you will be essential to the success of our business by providing customers with a first‑class experience.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the commercial performance of the Garden Centre, maximising sales across all product categories
Oversee stock management, including ordering, rotation and replenishment, to ensure availability, quality and a fresh, seasonal offering
Lead the presentation of all Garden Centre displays, ensuring they are visually appealing, well‑merchandised and maintained to a high standard at all times
Support overall branch standards and performance in collaboration with the Branch Manager
Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, ensuring a fast, efficient and friendly experience for all customers
Build strong customer relationships and provide expert advice on horticultural products and services
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of product ranges, seasonal trends and customer needs
Identify opportunities to improve and develop the Garden Centre offering and contribute to wider branch performance
Lead, motivate and support team members to achieve high performance and maintain excellent service standards
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety requirements at all times
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all areas of responsibility
Key Requirements
A recognised qualification in Horticulture or a related discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience within a retail Garden Centre environment
Strong knowledge of, and genuine passion for, the retail gardening and horticulture industry
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high‑quality work in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent planning, organisational and prioritisation skills
Customer‑focused approach with a friendly, engaging manner and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
Proven experience leading, motivating and developing a team
Experience in demand planning, stock control and ordering, with a strong commercial awareness
A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative
