Emerald Locums is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for both Staff Grade and Senior Speech and Language Therapists to join a dedicated adult disability service team in East Galway. This role provides a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities while working in a supportive, team-based environment.
Role Overview
You Will Be Responsible For
* Supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in their speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs.
* Working alongside staff teams to create communication-friendly environments.
* Providing staff and family training where appropriate.
* Engaging in person-centred service delivery in line with best practice.
Qualifications Required
* Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (CORU registered).
* Eligible for membership with the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT).
* Postgraduate Dysphagia qualification desirable (particularly for Senior roles).
* Full clean driving licence and access to own transport.
* Fluency in both written and spoken English.
Experience
* Staff Grade: Suitable for early-career professionals with some post-qualification experience and a positive approach to working in disability services.
* Senior Grade: Significant post-qualification experience in similar settings, with confidence in independently managing complex communication and dysphagia cases.
Experience or training in the following areas is an advantage:
* Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
* Lámh or TEACCH approaches
* Managing feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing (FEDS) difficulties
Working Hours
* Full-time: 70 hours per fortnight (typically Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm)
* Flexibility may be required in line with service needs
* Part-time options available
Remuneration
* Staff Grade: €40 – €45
* Senior Grade: €45 – €50
* Daily locum rates: Up to €440/day depending on experience (Senior SLT only)
Base Location
* East Galway (Ballinasloe area) – Travel may be required within the region
