About the role: This role will report to the Regulatory & Compliance Director.The person will provide leadership and drive regulatory focus designed to support other teams in the business. The person also develops, monitors and analyses key areas of focus in the gas and electricity regulatory environment.The position is a key member and contributor to the achievement of Flogas Energys overall goals and objectives. You will be responsible for creating and driving several regulatory projects as well as responding to changes in the regulatory environment. As the Head of Regulation and Compliance you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, for dealing with many types of people at all levels in a direct diplomatic way. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert interpretation of market regulations and evaluate the commercial impacts of regulatory changes. Keep up to date with the legal and political background influencing traditional utilities, including broad principles relevant to energy regulation. Clearly identify and define policy issues and then develops policy options relevant to the work of Flogas Energy. Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Influence key areas of the regulatory environment that can deliver positive benefits for Flogas Energy, our customers and the retail market. Lobby stakeholders and strengthen the relationship with various industries bodies including CRU, relevant Government departments, NIAUR, DfE, Ofgem to drive Flogas Energys agenda on specific issues. Rally support from peers on specific issues that deliver benefits for wider industry. Communicate with and impart knowledge to internal and external stakeholders on changes in the regulatory environment that will impact Flogas Energy, our customers or the wider market. Lead responsibility to respond to relevant consultation and other industry papers issued by energy regulators, government departments or other relevant stakeholders. Take advantage of Flogas Energys regulatory expertise in key areas of the market through regular engagement with customers on developments that will impact them. Identify, develop, and influence the introduction of new proposals to relevant codes that will drive additional benefits for Flogas Energy. Communicate regulatory challenges, both present and future to management team within Flogas and DCC in a timely manner, identifying implications for current and future business strategies, systems Additional duties as required. Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in utility market regulation, preferably in the energy sector and should be degree qualified in business, legal or engineering discipline. This person should possess key knowledge base of existing approaches to regulation and their rationale in Ireland, Northern Ireland and other EU countries and a deep understanding of the commercial aspects of the Single Electricity Market, gas and electricity transportation, developing wholesale markets and retail energy supply. Role specific (technical) knowledge / skills: This person should have strong commercial acumen and sound knowledge of the retail and wholesale electricity and gas markets and models and enjoys complex technical materials. They will be highly skilled in leadership and project management, communication at all business levels working well with the wider business and on own initiative.
