OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Associate Professor B post will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality education and contributing to the teaching and administrative functions of the department. The role requires a balance of teaching, research and administrative duties, aimed at enriching the academic experience for students and advancing the academic reputation of the ECE Dept at UL. The expectation is that the successful candidate will go on to develop a strong research profile within ECE.
A PhD (level 10NFQ) in electronic & computer engineering/electrical engineering or a related discipline.
Evidence of a body of excellent research outputs demonstrating research leadership potential as appropriate to the discipline.
Evidence of teaching experience related to the delivery of effective teaching, learning, and assessment at a third level institution.
Experience with/teaching of electrical draughting software and/or electrical installation design tools.
Minimum of three years post PhD teaching experience or equivalent.
Evidence of leading the supervision of PhD students.
Evidence of acquiring competitive research funding.
Experience/knowledge in the use of electrical control and switching gear for teaching and/or research purposes.
Prior experience of service contribution in an academic institution. Relevant experience in non‑academic institutions is also appropriate.

A research plan (up to two pages in length) describing the research that the candidate would envisage undertaking if offered the position at the University of Limerick and how it complements existing research directions or offers new directions to the Department.
A teaching plan (up to two pages in length) detailing how the candidate would contribute to teaching and learning of Electronics/Electrical engineering in the Department.
