Overview

The Finance team are seeking an experienced Billing and Claims Assistant to join their busy Claims team for a 2-year fixed term contract.


Responsibilities

* Bill all Inpatient, Day Case and Side Room claims on HIS and ensure month‑end timeframes are met.
* Collect, manage and organise claim forms from admissions; ensure that all claims are billed and attached to the relevant claim forms.
* Collate, manage and match all consultant Side 2 claim forms and the UPMC SSC Invoice to be passed onto the claims team for submission.
* Collate discharge reports to ensure that all Insurance claims have been received and billed by month‑end close off.
* Follow up on any missing claim forms by sending letters to patients to ensure claims are submitted.
* Update status of claims in Dynamics so that claims can be tracked and managed.
* Compile the WIP/Cardiac and Outstanding claim reports at month end.
* Match and cross‑check that all details on the hospital invoice and professional invoices match.
* Timely submission of bi‑monthly and monthly completed claims.
* Communicate with patients to verify relevant information, solve queries and obtain missing data for submissions.
* Review claim submissions and verify the information.
* Run Credits and Debits reports and match off accordingly on a regular basis.
* Liaise with relevant departments/billings companies regarding outstanding paperwork.


Qualifications

* At least 3 years’ finance experience as a Claims Administrator/Processor or in a related role (advantage if experience is in health care).
* Computer literate and proficient in MS Office and Excel.
* High attention to detail.
* Excellent critical thinking and decision‑making skills.
* Ability to work under pressure to meet strict submission deadlines.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
