Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, direct, manage, supervise, and represent all aspects of the Public Works Department, including: Building management facilitiesMunicipal docks, roads, bridges, and structuresOversight of three landfill sites, equipment, and vehiclesWater and wastewater systems (communicate with OCWA operators)Maintain and ensure a strict Health & Safety Program for employeesPerform all other duties associated with the Public Works Department not listed above
QualificationsCollege graduate with at least five years of experience in a Public Works environment, including: Landfill operationsWater and wastewater infrastructureExtensive road and bridge knowledgeExperience as a road superintendentKnowledge of relevant regulations as they relate to municipal public worksA suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills and AttributesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with elected officials, staff, suppliers, and the communityStrong organizational skills and self-motivationAbility to manage, direct, and supervise staffIn-depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and other safety requirements
Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $69,785 to $78,545, commensurate with qualifications and experienceCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageMandatory enrollment in the OMERS pension plan for full-time employees
