Opportunity Summary
A Medical Director for General Adult Psychiatry Service will provide medical leadership in Cork Mental Health Service, responsible for the care and treatment of patients, ensuring effective co-ordination of care with the multidisciplinary team and between teams and health agencies.
The role involves leading and engaging in the provision of a range of community-based assessment and treatment programs including out-patient clinics, day hospital services, community services, residential centers, and any future service deemed necessary in line with evidence-based practice and National Clinical Programme for Dual Diagnosis.
Cork Mental Health Services offers a diverse range of services to a population of approximately 700,000. The general adult sectors provide comprehensive acute inpatient care, augmented by a liaison team based on a 7-day service model. Multidisciplinary care is provided through Community Mental Health Teams, Day Hospitals, Day Centers, and Home-Based Treatment Teams.
Rehabilitation Teams include Psychiatry of Later Life and Assertive Outreach, emphasizing person-centered care, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
