We're looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to support a major construction project in Sandyford.
The role involves coordinating with the Comer Group design team to ensure all structural elements are aligned across consultants, trades, and subcontractors, while driving the design toward the best outcome in terms of safety, quality, and cost.

Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate structural design with internal teams and external consultants, ensuring pre-construction deliverables, tender packages, and relevant FSC/DAC applications are progressed in line with programme.
Lead engineering workshops with internal and external discipline engineers to resolve structural and coordination issues ahead of construction.
Manage the technical submittal process, ensuring structural specifications are met and submissions are reviewed in a timely manner.
Work closely with the cost management team to prioritise structural packages, particularly where long lead times or complex design requirements arise.
Oversee the design query and RFI process, ensuring structural issues are tracked and resolved efficiently.
Manage (IFC) drawings and updates, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with current structural designs.
Lead engineering/design meetings to monitor progress and address key structural items.
Maintain a structural design risk register, highlighting potential risks to programme or buildability.
Review and coordinate contractor drawings and structural models to ensure readiness for construction.
Manage as-built structural information and ensure timely submission in line with handover requirements.
Ensure all structural documentation, including calculations and O&M related inputs, are submitted and recorded correctly.
Manage and coordinate any sustainability requirements such as Home Performance Index for the project as per the Comer Groups requirements, liaise with the client's design team and external sustainability consultants in weekly/monthly meetings and issue reports/minutes, generate monthly reports on progress and design to achieve the clients sustainability requirements.
Contribute to the development of Comer Group design standards and structural best practices.
Assist in early-stage feasibility and concept design (e.g. structural systems, grid layouts, buildability, and efficiency).
Experience required
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Structural or Civil Engineering
Proven experience in residential/apartment construction in Ireland
Strong understanding of structural design and technical submittal processes
Experience with Procore or similar construction/design management software
You must be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit software
Excellent organisational skills with an ability to produce quality work and achieve project deadlines within budget
You must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business services
A forward planner, who identifies and resolves project challenges effectively
Have an in-depth knowledge base and experience across all work stages
Display excellent written and verbal communication skills. Have thorough knowledge of EU building regulations and construction technology
Possess strong technical and construction detailing ability. A working knowledge of Revit would be beneficial, but is not essential
