opportunity. We are looking for a strategic SHEQ Manager who is ready to shape the safety, health, environment, and quality function, develop a team, and embed a proactive culture across a thriving division.
The Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be the strategic lead for all SHEQ matters. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing integrated management systems while building and mentoring a team to support the company's ambitious expansion plans across civil and utilities projects (water, gas, electricity, telecoms).
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain the company's SHEQ management systems in line with ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 standards.
* Lead, manage, and develop the SHEQ team, providing coaching and mentoring to support their professional growth.
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant HSA, EPA, and client-specific legislation and standards.
* Foster a positive, proactive safety culture across all sites and levels of the organisation.
* Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments, and lead incident investigations to root cause.
* Act as the primary SHEQ advisor to project teams, reviewing method statements and safe systems of work.
* Prepare and present SHEQ performance reports to the senior management team.
* Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
The Person: Essential Requirements
* A minimum of
5 years' experience in a SHEQ advisory/management role within the civil engineering or utilities sector
.
* Proven experience in directly managing and developing staff.
* In-depth knowledge of Irish SHEQ legislation and industry best practices.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, IOSH Membership).
* Strong experience with ISO management systems (45001, 14001, 9001).
* Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
* A strategic thinker who is also hands-on and comfortable on active construction sites.
* Full clean driving licence.
