Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Design Team in Dublin, Ireland.
Responsibilities
Work with other design and engineering professionals on concepts and build projects.
Create, review and release data center Civil Engineering designs.
Manage the portfolio of data center designs and features.
Develop and maintain CSA Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for civil engineering systems.
Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including review of civil engineering designs (roads, drainage, civil site works, bulk earthworks, cut/fill analysis, retaining walls); evaluate design options and assess calculation assumptions.
Evaluate reports and create scope for geotechnical investigation testing.
Create, review and release civil engineering design Requests For Pricing (RFPs).
Manage external design consultants.
Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
Lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
Work on multiple data center build and capital investment projects simultaneously.
Travel for site assessments, consultant selection, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs, design consultants, quantity surveyors, and building owners (anticipated travel up to 25%).
Demonstrate ability to evaluate constructability of new technologies and determine construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
Perform and present business case analysis.
Proficient with civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
A day in the life
As a Data Centre (DC) Civil Engineer at AWS, you will lead designs for AWS DCs in the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and influence other projects globally.
You will be part of a creative design team solving problems and challenging the status quo, providing technical guidance and responsible for Civil Engineering design requirements.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Accredited Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
Chartered Engineer in Ireland or equivalent overseas accreditation.
6–8 years of experience in civil engineering design for industrial, warehouse, or commercial projects.
Detailed understanding of civil engineering including roads design, drainage systems, bulk earthworks, and retaining walls.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in civil engineering.
Experience managing a team of designers to meet milestone dates.
Experience across disciplines such as structural, architectural, and environmental engineering.
5+ years of experience directly related to DC or mission-critical facility design.
Understanding of building construction, forensic analysis of design/construction defects, and value engineering for building superstructure.
Basic understanding of large-scale mechanical and electrical system components and designs.
Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of data centers.
