We are seeking to appoint a high-calibre General Manager to lead and manage the continued growth and expansion of the business.
This is a critical senior leadership role with full operational responsibility for the branch and a strong commercial focus.
The successful candidate will have proven experience operating at senior management level within a comparable organisation and will report directly to the Management Team.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Commercial Performance Overall management of the sales function, including: External sales and key account management Trade counter sales Retail sales growth Development and optimisation of the showroom offering Communicate KPIs to branch management and staff, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management to drive sales and profitability.
Ensure the business consistently delivers exceptional customer service, adopting best-in-class sales and service practices.
Operations & Supply Chain Full responsibility for yard, warehousing, and transport operations.
Oversight of inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels that support sales activity while remaining within agreed working capital guidelines.
Work closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure effective branch purchasing, securing best commercial terms and ensuring adherence to best practice.
Financial & Cost Control Regular review and control of all cost inputs, including haulage, delivery, and overhead costs.
Dotted-line responsibility to the Company Director in relation to credit control, working capital, and related financial disciplines.
People Management & Compliance Leadership and management of all branch staff, including attendance, timekeeping, and disciplinary procedures where required.
Ensure company policies, procedures, and guidelines are implemented and adhered to across all functions, including HR, Credit Control, and Administration.
Full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance, ensuring a safe working environment for employees and customers and adherence to all relevant legislation.
Candidate Requirements 35 years experience in a senior management or general management role within a similar business environment.
Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of driving sales growth and profitability.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a clear understanding of how to deliver best-in-class customer service.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve business targets and objectives.
Experience in showroom management and design.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and operate confidently at leadership level.
Previous experience within the builders merchants, builders providers, or DIY sector would be a distinct advantage.
Remuneration €45,000 €50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
