Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Specialist to support a broad range of finance activities within a dynamic, project-driven business. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will contribute to core financial operations including sales invoicing, credit control, month-end reporting, compliance, and financial analysis. The role also involves preparing project reports to assess the financial performance of ongoing initiatives, providing valuable insights to support decision-making. Additionally, the position offers exposure to strategic procurement initiatives, enabling the development of commercial awareness and cross-functional collaboration.
This position is ideal for a part-qualified accountant or someone actively working toward a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA), looking to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of finance in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Invoicing
* Issue accurate and timely sales invoices in line with project milestones and contractual terms.
* Coordinate with project managers, sales, and logistics teams to ensure invoicing accuracy and completeness.
* Maintain detailed invoicing records for audit and internal review.
* Prepare and submit monthly contract applications for payment to customers.
Credit Control & Collections
* Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue balances.
* Engage directly with clients to resolve disputes and ensure prompt payment.
* Escalate aged debt in line with company credit policies.
Cash Allocation & Reconciliation
* Process and allocate incoming payments accurately to customer accounts and open invoices.
* Investigate and resolve unallocated receipts or payment discrepancies.
* Maintain an accurate aged receivables ledger and perform monthly reconciliations.
Project Financial Reporting & Analysis
* Prepare regular financial reports to assess the performance of ongoing projects.
* Analyze project costs, revenues, and variances to support business decision-making.
* Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to provide actionable financial insights.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
* Assist the CFO with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including reconciliations, postings, and analysis.
* Support the month-end close process and assist with internal and external audit requirements.
Compliance & Statutory Reporting
* Assist in preparing and submitting Intrastat returns, VAT filings, and other regulatory submissions.
* Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Procurement Support
* Assist with strategic procurement initiatives across the business.
* Support financial analysis for supplier evaluations, cost tracking, and project-related spend.
* Help ensure procurement decisions align with financial goals and project timelines.
Other Duties
Perform any other ad hoc duties as required to support the finance function and wider business needs.
Key Requirements
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or a similar finance role.
* Strong understanding of the A/R cycle including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
* Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
* Proficiency in Excel and experience using ERP or finance systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite).
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in a project-based or manufacturing environment.
* Part-qualified accountant or actively pursuing a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
