Job Description
The role of the Planning and Development Manager is to play a critical part in the delivery of large-scale biogas infrastructure projects. As a key member of the team, you will lead the planning and permitting processes from concept through to construction, working closely with design teams, environmental consultants, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing the planning process to obtain consents for large-scale renewable energy developments
* Coordinating external consultants to deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Ecological Impact Assessments, and other statutory studies
* Preparing comprehensive planning application documentation
* Identifying and resolving planning and permitting issues during project design
* Leading the submission of environmental consent applications (e.g. Industrial Emissions licences, Animal By-Product permits)
* Engaging with key stakeholders including local authorities, environmental agencies, landowners, and residents
* Organising and executing public consultation events
* Supporting planning appeals and inquiries, including acting as an expert witness where necessary
* Managing discharge of planning conditions and compliance in the pre-construction phase
* Conducting site selection and environmental due diligence for new development opportunities
* Monitoring legislative and policy developments in the biogas and planning sectors
* Contributing to strategic planning and commercial analysis alongside the Commercial Team
* Providing regular project updates to the Chief Operations Officer
