Purpose of Position
The Director of Information, Technology and Innovation provides operational and strategic leadership for the College’s technology infrastructure, enterprise information systems and digital innovation. The role aligns technology and digital innovation with institutional strategy, enhances the student and staff experience, and ensures secure, resilient and future‑focused information and digital services that support teaching, learning, research and operations.
Key Relationships

President
Senior Leadership Team (focus on Deans and Registrar)
Professional Support Services (HR, Finance, Library Services, Online programming, Student Services)
External software vendors and technology partners (HEA, QQI)

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of IT services and infrastructure.
Lead system performance, resilience, continuity planning and continuous improvement.
Envisage and deliver critical data sets for institutional decision making.
Maintain robust digital governance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, risk mitigation and reporting obligations.
Lead institutional approaches to cybersecurity, data protection and digital risk management, including risks associated with emerging technologies and AI.
Develop institutional IT strategy aligned with academic and operational strategy.
Implement enhanced institutional performance through AI, automation and emerging technologies.
Envisage and align digital investment, innovation and risk within budgets.
Plan and execute innovation in technology‑enhanced learning in line with academic and student needs.
Enhance student engagement and experience through the student digital journey.
Lead complex organisational change associated with digital transformation.
Foster collaboration throughout the institution to champion innovation and digital adoption.
Lead technology investment planning, budgeting and business‑case development to ensure value‑driven technology delivery.
Manage vendor partnerships, procurement and contract oversight.
Lead, develop and inspire IT team to build institutional digital capability.
Promote culture of innovation, service excellence and continuous improvement through professional development and talent management.

Person Specification

Significant senior leadership experience within higher education or a complex organisational environment.
Demonstrated success leading institution‑wide digital transformation and systems optimisation initiatives.
Strong expertise in enterprise systems, governance frameworks and technology‑enabled process improvement.
Proven ability to align digital strategy with academic, operational and institutional priorities.
Experience leading organisational change, stakeholder engagement and cross‑functional initiatives.
Experience managing vendor relationships, procurement processes and technology investment planning.
Strong understanding of digital risk, AI, cybersecurity and compliance.

Qualifications Required

Minimum of a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline.

Salary
Executive 3 Salary Band €93,182 – €124,863
Annual Leave
27 days per annum pro rata
Hours
Full time – 35 hours per week
Candidate Requirement
Candidates must have a valid work permit to work in Ireland.
