Embedded Software Engineer, Datacenters & Energy
We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Software and Digital Platforms Group in Cork, Ireland, working on Datacenters & Energy products. This is an opportunity to join a growing team that implements leading‑edge algorithms to monitor and ensure resilience of the electrical grid.
About The Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of embedded software for Analog Devices’ Datacenters & Energy business unit. You will work on the development of cutting‑edge embedded systems that drive next‑generation intelligent power management for the Smart Grid and Datacenters, meeting the highest standards for security, reliability, and real‑time performance. You will be part of a fast‑growing, world‑class engineering team working to deliver software solutions that improve grid and datacentre resilience and advance power‑management innovation. You will be a strong team player with excellent communications and technical skills.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop high‑performance real‑time embedded applications on ARM Cortex‑M microcontrollers in C programming language.
Create all necessary documentation to support the embedded firmware design and communicate the essential concepts inside and outside the development team.
Participate in code reviews, improve software standards and guidelines.
Develop and execute software unit and integration test plans.
Develop and review tools used for testing and interfacing with the product.
Analyse test results to ensure correct functionality and implement corrective action.
Interact daily with geographically distributed Silicon Designers, Embedded Software Engineers, Applications Engineers, QA Engineers and other team members to develop software, resolve bugs, identify missing requirements, etc.
Provide customer support during Beta trials and post‑release.
Develop customer‑facing documentation and training material as required.
Comply with ADI licensing practices, code origin control and documentation.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
1+ years developing high‑performance, high‑resilience real‑time embedded systems.
Technical Expertise
Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills.
Strong understanding of processor architectures such as ARM Cortex and RiscV.
Excellent analytical and debugging abilities.
Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Expertise
Familiarity with Python.
Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
Proficiency using Git, Jira and Confluence.
Experience working with various peripherals such as UART and SPI.
Additional Information
Travel: Up to 10%.
Location: Cork, Ireland.
Reports to: Manager, Datacentre & Energy Software.
