Senior Occupational Therapist

Permanent Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Location: Children’s Disability Network 3 - South Kerry – Killarney, Outreach to Tralee, Killorglin & Cahirciveen
JOB SUMMARY
The person/s appointed to these posts will work as part of Inter-disciplinary team using a family centred approach to the delivery of a range of services for children (0-18 years) and their families.
The local reporting relationship is to the Children’s Disability Network Manager. Senior Occupational Therapists report professionally on issues of professional practice, CPD and clinical supervision to the Head of Discipline through the professional line management structure.
The Therapist/s will work in conjunction with other team members in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the person supported group and the objectives of the organisation. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as required
The Network 3 South Kerry team is based in Killarney, Outreach to Tralee, Killorglin & Cahirciveen
The Candidate:
1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualification, Experience etc.
1. Candidates for appointment must:
1. Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND
2. Candidates must have three years full-time (or aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience. AND
3. Minimum of two years full time (or an aggregate of two years) experience of working with children & young adults 0-18 years is essential. This ideally would include intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health and Autism. AND
4. Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office AND
5. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapist Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual registration
1. Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND
2. Confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of annual Safety Assurance Certificate
3. Health
1. Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. Character
1. Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
5. Experience
1. Experience of working with children & young adults 0-18 years is essential. This ideally would include intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health and Autism.
2. Experience of working in partnership with families is desirable.
3. Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and other agencies is essential.
4. Experience of carrying out assessments with children & young adults 0-18 with complex needs within the scope of the OT role and interdisciplinary team working is desirable.
5. Experience working with complex physical disabilities in the areas of seating and postural management, upper limb function and assistive technology is desirable.
6. Experience of developing and coordinating individual family service plans (IFSPs) or equivalent in line with relevant policies and procedures would be beneficial.
7. Experience of using autism diagnostic assessments such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) as part of a multi-disciplinary team would be beneficial.
8. Demonstrate a command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role
9. Candidates must possess the requisite clinical and administrative capabilities to fulfil the functions of the role.
6. Driving Licence: Have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish Roads with means of transport is essential
Salary Scale: €63,279 - €74,509 per annum (1/5/25 Consolidated Scales)
Reporting to: Children’s Disability Network Manager on operational matters. Clinical governance and supervision will be provided by the Lead Agency Head of Discipline.
