Kilkenny Care Centreare now looking for caring, empathetic and reliableSenior Healthcare Assistantsto join their multi-disciplinary team.Candidates must have experience as a Healthcare Assistant and relevant qualification in QQI completed or in progress (or equivalent).The Senior Care Assistant RoleThe Senior Healthcare Assistant works as a member of the team delivering day to day care to the residents. The Senior Healthcare Assistant works within the Care Team todirect and oversee the day to day quality of non-clinical care.As a team member, the Senior Care Assistant contributes to the fulfilment of the Mowlam Healthcare Philosophy of Care, ensuring the residents privacy, dignity, respect and choice and supports the Named Nurse concept in the delivery of nursing care.What does this role entail?ResponsibilitiesIn addition to existing duties and responsibilities of an HCA, a Senior Care Assistant will also be required to carry out the following:Oversee the Care Assistant Teams to ensure that best working practices are implementedDisseminate information and work directives issued by senior managementParticipate in induction programmes and assist in identifying training needs and discuss same with Home ManagerEnsure Individual Care Plans are delivered appropriatelyPromote mobility of the resident, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure residents retains optimum mobilityMaintain high levels of communication between resident's family and staff, developing good relationshipsParticipate in organising and carrying out devised activity programmesAssisting in the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness in the HomeContribute to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the HomeAny other duties deemed necessary by the Nurse in ChargeQualifications/SkillsFETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalentExperience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards)Excellent communication skillsAbility to lead and be part of a teamCaring, kind, patient and empathetic natureFluent level of English both written and oralWhat do we offer?Guaranteed hours contractsCompetitive rateSunday premium ratesDouble time Bank HolidaysPaid BreaksRetail DiscountsEmployee Assistance ProgrammeComprehensive induction training and continued in-house training/professional developmentOpportunities for career progressionPaid trainingDeath in Service BenefitAll posts are subject to satisfactory references, medical and Garda vetting.NoteThis job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role and the range of duties, it does not attempt to detail every activity.
