My client is a global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex medical devices and component technologies.
Role overview:
The Product Development Manager will lead a team of engineers and technicians to bring projects from Phase 1 to commercialization. This role involves acting as a technical leader for product development improvements and providing training related to the PDP procedure.
Responsibilities:
* Partner with Program Managers to execute project plans on schedule, within budget, meeting or exceeding customer requirements.
* Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, NPI Engineering, or SMEs to develop innovative manufacturing processes following lean manufacturing and DFM principles, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, as well as vitality metrics such as yield, cost, and on-time delivery.
* Mentor and develop junior staff on PDP overview, procedures, and best practices.
* Guide junior staff to lead their own projects or portions of larger projects.
* Participate in brainstorming and troubleshooting activities.
* Support project progression through design or phase reviews from Phase 1 to commercialization, following the Nordson PDP procedure.
* Engage in design for manufacture and design for assembly activities.
* Attend customer meetings and visits.
* Ensure familiarity with medical device regulations including FDA, QSR, and ISO 13485.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, polymer engineering, or a related discipline.
* 10+ years of experience in the medical device industry or similar field.
* Proven ability to develop medical devices from concept to commercialization.
* Experience with design and manufacture of balloon catheters and delivery systems.
* Knowledge of phase-gated PDP procedures.
