At Breedon Surfacing Solutions Ireland we are one of Ireland’s leading surfacing and civil engineering contractors, delivering high-quality road surfacing projects across national and local authority networks, airports, and private sector clients. Our reputation is built on safety, quality, and reliability.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Contracts Road Surfacing Supervisor to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surfacing professional to take a leadership role within a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.
Responsibilities
* Supervising surfacing crews, subcontractors, and plant on site.
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
* Planning daily and weekly surfacing operations to maximise productivity.
* Coordinating with clients, Contracts Managers, and site teams.
* Managing site records, permits, and quality documentation.
* Ensuring work is delivered to specification and to client satisfaction.
* Supporting the commercial team with progress measurement and cost awareness.
* Follow all company policy, procedures, and site rules.
What we need from you
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience in road surfacing / asphalt operations (machine lay & hand lay).
* Strong knowledge of surfacing techniques, materials, plant, and equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
* Experience supervising surfacing crews and subcontractors.
* Strong focus on Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance.
* Ability to plan and deliver works under traffic management or restricted conditions.
* IT literate with basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Supervisory experience within a surfacing contractor or local authority framework.
* CSCS / CSR / Safepass / SSSTS / SMSTS (or equivalent supervisory H&S certification).
* NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works) accreditation.
* Knowledge of TII / DAA / Local Authority surfacing specifications.
* Understanding of asphalt testing, quality records, and site sampling.
* Commercial awareness (cost control, labour & plant utilisation).
* Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends when required.
* Experience using digital reporting systems (e.g., Enablon, FieldView).
