The File IQ team in Cork, Ireland builds the intelligence layer that lets customers analyse, manage, and optimise their file data across clouds.Role OverviewReporting to the VP of Engineering in Cork, you’ll lead a cross‑functional engineering team to deliver multiple mainline and patch releases of File IQ each year, partnering closely with Product and Customer Services to translate customer insight into shippable increments.What You’ll Achieve (first 6–12 Months)Deliver 2–4 File IQ releases (mainline + patches) with clear quality and reliability benchmarks.Establish and evolve development standards (code quality, security, testing, CI/CD).Improve cross‑team delivery flow by clarifying dependencies and risks; land at least 1 cross‑product initiative per mainline release.Build a learning culture through coaching, mentoring, and day‑to‑day agile practices.Promote AI practices within the team and align with the wider engineering usage of AI.What You’ll DoLead and develop a cross‑functional team of software engineers; set goals, coach performance, and support career growth (in partnership with People Operations).Maintain and evolve engineering standards and processes.Translate refined backlog into iterative delivery plans with milestones and risk management.Be hands‑on, detail‑oriented and proactive.Ensure quality across documentation, services, and production systems.Coordinate cross‑product dependencies to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.Communicate design trade‑offs and risks clearly to peers and leadership.Mentor and guide team members; contribute to interviewing and onboarding.What You’ll Bring10+ years of experience in software development and 4+ years in managing and leading high‑performing engineering teams, including management of remote team membersExperience building and testing Linux‑based services in production.Familiarity with web services, architectures, and reliability practices.Practical experience with secure, high‑quality, scalable distributed systems.Excellent communication; able to foster effective relationships and collaboration across organisations.Ability to break large initiatives into measurable increments and deliver through teams.Our stack (nice to have)Languages: Python and bashCloud: AWS (S3, EC2); Azure a plusHypervisors: ESX, HyperV, Nutanix, Scale andData/Streaming: PostgreSQL, Kafka, OpenSearchObservability: GrafanaOperating Systems: Linux (Rocky) & MacOSWorkflow: JIRAHow We WorkWe are a diverse, global team with colleagues across Europe, India, and North America.
