O'Brien's Wine has partnered with Retail Skillnet to offer a two-year Retail Apprenticeship Programme designed for individuals who show the potential to progress into a supervisory or management role within O'Brien's.
This programme combines practical, on-the-job experience with structured learning, helping you build the skills, attitude, and competencies needed to succeed as a Retail Supervisor or Manager.
Throughout the programme, you will: Work full-time as a Sales Assistant in a few of our O'Brien's stores.
Participate in structured training and development through classroom learning, online modules, and self-study.
Attend college training for approximately 24 days each year over the two-year programme.
Gain the knowledge and experience required to achieve a Level 6 qualification in Retail Management.
This apprenticeship provides an excellent pathway for individuals who are serious about building a long-term career in retail management with O'briens while earning and gaining real-world experience.
Location A blend of our O'Brien's stores About the Role At O'Brien's Wine, we're passionate about what we do, and we're looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Full-Time Sales Assistant to join our team.
If you love great wine, enjoy working with people, and are eager to learn, this role offers the opportunity to develop your retail career while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the store's daily operations while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
You'll be the face of O'Brien's, helping customers find the perfect wine and ensuring that our store runs smoothly.
Your Responsibilities Complete tasks assigned by management to the highest standards while following company policies.
Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting customers with a positive and helpful attitude.
Accurately operate the till system and handle transactions.
Keep stock levels organised and up to date.
Maintain high merchandising standards to ensure the store is always presentable.
Continuously develop your product knowledge, particularly wine, to better assist customers.
Support deliveries, displays, and the overall appearance of the store.
Actively participate in the Retail Apprenticeship Programme, including attending training and completing required coursework.

Eager and willing to learn and develop new skills.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and approachable personality.
A genuine interest in wine and willingness to learn more.
Strong customer service and sales focus.
Hardworking, with a positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
Willing to support store operations including deliveries and merchandising.
Must be able to work weekends.
Interested in working while achieving a Level 6 qualification through the apprenticeship programme.
