The Director, Global Privacy – Europe, Middle East & Africa, based in Cork, Ireland, plays a key role in advancing Marriott's Global Privacy Program across the EMEA region.
Reporting to the Vice President & Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy and Data Security – EMEA, this leadership position focuses on ensuring compliance with evolving privacy, data security, AI, and digital regulations.
The role involves guiding privacy governance, advising on guest and employee data initiatives, developing policies and procedures, delivering training and awareness campaigns, conducting privacy impact assessments (including DPIAs), and supporting regulatory and law enforcement inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
Privacy Program Management
Implement and enhance Marriott's Privacy Program in EMEA through policies, procedures, and projects
Oversee records of processing activities and advise on cross-border data transfers, including drafting related agreements
Identify and assess emerging regulatory risks (e.g., AI, AdTech) and recommend mitigation strategies
Business Support
Advise EMEA business teams on privacy issues, including data subject requests, vendor management, marketing, and digital compliance
Conduct privacy and data protection impact assessments for new business initiatives
Assist with regulatory and law enforcement inquiries
Provide guidance on privacy clauses in contracts such as hotel management and vendor agreements
Governance & Strategy
Support Privacy Governance and EMEA Leadership Privacy Committee activities, including materials, agendas, and reporting
Provide regular privacy metrics and updates to senior leadership
Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness communications for EMEA teams
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; legal degree desirable
Minimum 6 years of professional experience, including 3+ years in Privacy, Legal, and/or Compliance
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent certification preferred
Consulting experience welcomed
Strong understanding of EU privacy and data protection laws, regulations, and best practices
Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive change, and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
High initiative, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools
