We’re continuing our cloud adoption journey and are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Google Cloud Engineer (VP level) to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing cloud-based solutions on the Google Cloud Platform as part of a multi‑cloud environment. Your role will deliver high‑quality, resilient, scalable and secure solutions that meet business requirements.
Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA. It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.
What you’ll do
* Design, implement and maintain Google Cloud core infrastructure and resources to support our business.
* Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD DevSecOps tools.
* Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments ensuring high availability and performance.
* Collaborate with Information Security to implement and manage security best practices, including access control, data encryption and threat detection.
* Work with development teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing applications and systems.
* Stay up‑to‑date with the latest Google Cloud technologies and industry best practices.
* Participate in the evaluation and selection of new cloud‑based technologies and services.
* Contribute to the improvement of cloud operations and processes.
What you’ll bring
* Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and their Google Cloud implementation, including networking, storage and security as well as other concepts such as SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.
* Experience with enterprise patterns and best practices around building out GCP for a regulated organisation (e.g., Landing Zones, Enterprise foundations blueprint, network and connectivity options).
* Proven experience with DevSecOps practices (e.g., Git, CI/CD) and tools such as Google Cloud DevOps, Cloud Build, GitHub Enterprise and GitLab.
* Strong proficiency with Terraform (IaC), Docker and Kubernetes (containerization technologies) are strong advantages.
* Solid understanding of Google Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) and role‑based access control (RBAC).
* Experience with scripting languages, e.g., PowerShell, Bash and Python.
* Strong communications and collaboration skills with the ability to produce clear documentation in corporate Wiki tools.
* Right to work in Dublin is a mandatory requirement.
