Description
We are looking for a deeply capable engineer responsible for handling support escalations and critical support cases raised by various groups. As a Ruby on Rails Software Engineer, you will be responsible for hands-on coding, design, requirements elicitation and refinement, technical documentation, production support, unit testing, quality assurance, and performance optimization. This is a dynamic and impactful role where you can leverage your expertise to make a significant difference. Responsibilities
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues in our Ruby on Rails applications, often under pressure and within tight deadlines.
Serve as a point of escalation for critical customer-facing and internal executive-level support requests, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Ruby on Rails code.
Design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable solutions to address support issues and prevent future occurrences.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, QA) to identify root causes, implement fixes, and improve overall system stability.
Contribute to the development of tools and processes to improve support efficiency and effectiveness.
Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks and scalability issues.
Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge base.
Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Key Qualifications
Proven Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development, with a strong understanding of Rails best practices and design patterns.
Support & Escalation Expertise: Experience handling critical customer-facing and internal executive-level escalations, demonstrating strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Cloud Architecture: Demonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying highly scalable cloud-based architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Database Proficiency: Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Redis, MongoDB).
DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Pay Range: $55/hr - $60/hr
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. Our full-time consultants have access to benefits including medical, dental, vision as well as 401K contributions.
