Team & Opportunity
To continue the successful growth of our Infrastructure & Capital Projects team within EY’s Consulting practice, we seek a dynamic and detail-oriented Risk Manager to support some of the largest infrastructure projects currently in development in Ireland.
As a trusted advisor, you will help clients deliver critical infrastructure projects while advising on risk management activities across governance, assurance, and control strategies.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of risk management frameworks for major infrastructure and capital investment programmes.
* Provide strategic risk advisory services across the full project lifecycle.
* Oversee risk assessments, including qualitative and quantitative analyses (Monte Carlo simulations, cost/schedule risk modelling).
* Advise on project governance, programme controls, contract strategies, and procurement approaches.
* Provide assurance on cost management, schedule performance, commercial risk, dispute avoidance, and regulatory compliance.
* Engage with senior client stakeholders to communicate risk insights and support decision-making.
* Oversee creation and management of comprehensive risk registers.
* Offer specialised advice and support to project teams and stakeholders.
* Conduct frequent risk assessments and audits to identify potential challenges.
* Work collaboratively with various business units to integrate risk controls into everyday operations.
Internal Responsibilities
* Build valued relationships with clients and colleagues to generate new business across EY.
* Contribute to growth of the I&CP practice by leading business development initiatives and client proposals.
* Communicate effectively with EY senior management and manage high-performing teams.
* Understand all EY service offerings and identify opportunities to better serve clients.
* Build strong internal relationships within consulting and across other service lines.
* Support team development activities:
o Coaching and mentoring.
o Conducting performance reviews and providing feedback.
o Contributing to people initiatives (recruiting, retaining, training).
o Maintaining an educational programme to develop technical skills.
o Understanding, following, and communicating workplace policies and procedures.
Skills & Attributes for Success
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or Risk Management (Master’s preferred).
* Minimum of 7+ years experience delivering risk management, assurance, or controls on major infrastructure and capital projects.
* Strong understanding of risk exposures across cost, schedule, procurement, governance, regulatory, and stakeholder interfaces.
* Experience leading risk management on complex projects (transport, energy, utilities, healthcare, or major public works).
* Proficiency with risk management tools (Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Quantitative Risk Analysis).
* Familiarity with major forms of contract (FIDIC, NEC, others) and procurement models.
* Proven expertise in demonstrating how solutions meet client objectives while adhering to industry best practices.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
Ideally, you will also have
* Professional certification in Risk Management (IRM, PMI-RMP, ISO 31000).
* Track record in consulting or client-side leadership on major programmes.
* Commercial acumen to identify opportunities and drive business growth.
* Strategic thinking and alignment with organisational objectives.
* Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills at all levels.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment.
