The Senior DSR will act as the client’s technical representative on site, ensuring that all works are delivered in line with the design, contract specifications, and industry best practice. This role will focus on cycling, pedestrian, and urban realm improvements, requiring strong technical, site management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the client’s on-site design representative, ensuring works are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
* Oversee the quality of construction, addressing technical queries and providing design clarifications to the contractor.
* Monitor and review progress on site, reporting on programme, quality, and compliance issues.
* Coordinate with the design office to resolve design changes, clashes, or unforeseen site issues.
* Ensure all works comply with relevant standards, including DMURS, TII Publications, and the National Cycle Manual.
* Conduct site inspections, record non-conformances, and track corrective actions.
* Liaise with contractors, local authority representatives, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Prepare clear and accurate site reports, progress updates, and technical notes.
* Mentor junior staff or assistant site representatives where required.
Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards same, is desirable.
* Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in civil engineering works, with at least part in site-based supervision/DSR roles.
* Strong background in active travel, urban infrastructure, or public realm projects.
* Thorough knowledge of Irish codes, standards, and active travel design guidance (DMURS, National Cycle Manual, TII Publications).
* Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
* Proven ability to work independently on site, making sound technical decisions under pressure.
* Experience working with Dublin City Council or other Irish local authorities.
* Familiarity with FIDIC and Public Works Contracts.
* Understanding of traffic management and construction sequencing in urban environments.
