The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the HPLC laboratory, ensuring efficient and accurate analysis of multiple product types throughout the manufacturing process—from raw materials to finished product testing. You will work the routine day shift and lead a team of approximately 15 chemists across a 24/7 shift pattern, reporting to the Chemistry Laboratory Manager.
Responsibilities
* Test method validation
* Implementation of new methods
* Management of routine release testing
* Management of non‑routine testing
* Support product development of new solutions
* Interpret and report results
* Collaborate with QA, validations, product development and manufacturing teams
* Track and manage supplies of HPLC laboratory reagents and equipment
* Ensure procedures are accurate, up to date and compliant with GLP
* Maintain cross‑training within the HPLC laboratory
* Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel
* Manage the laboratory budget, track expenses and ensure cost‑effective operations
Skills and Qualifications
* Lead, mentor and evaluate junior and senior HPLC chemists
* Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices and regulatory requirements
* Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance
* Strong technical knowledge of HPLC instrumentation and method optimisation techniques
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and lead a qualified team of chemists
* Familiarity with Ph. Eur., USP and strong knowledge of FDA, EMA and ICH guidelines
* Advanced Empower 3 user skills
