It is estimated that up to one in five of us will experience some mental health problems in our lifetime and in order to meet these needs, Mental Health Services are expanding and evolving.Dublin North County (DNC) and Dublin North City & West (DNCW) Mental Health Services is a service funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and is committed to work practices in line with national HSE policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and national standards. Working age adult, Psychiatry of Later Life and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are all provided within Dublin North City Mental Health Services.North Dublin, Mental Health Services provide mental health service to approximately 258,000 people. Acute services are provided in the Ashlin Centre (approved centre) which is located on the grounds of Beaumont Hospital. The O'Casey Rooms in the Fairview Community Unit provide care for people with mental health problems in Later Life. Our Rehabilitation Service spans across a wide area including residences in Howth, Coolock, Raheny, Tonlegee Road, Artane, Swords, Balbriggan and Lusk. Our Community services are located in Coolock, Tonlegee Rd, Killester, Swords and BalbrigganDublin North City Mental Health Services provides a predominately community based specialist mental health service with a catchment population of approximately 621,405. 50% of the population are aged 34 and under and 20.2% of the population are non-Irish. Dublin North City Mental Health Services fosters a holistic model of care, providing individualised care within a Multidisciplinary team. Dublin North City Mental Health Services operates from a recovery; strengths based approach to care and treatment.The quantum of services provided include: Acute Mental Health Inpatient Services, Psychiatric Intensive Care services, Non-Acute Specialist Inpatient Services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Psychiatry of Later Life Services, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Community Residential Services, Homebased Treatment Service, Homeless Mental Health Services,Deaf/Hear Liaison ServiceDay Hospital Intervention, Day Services, Specialist outpatient and in reach teams (Liaison, Bereavement, CBT, DSH,EUPD,Assertive Outreach, Primary Care, Family Therapy) and Community Mental Health Teams.The aim of the service is in keeping with the HSE strategy, that is, to enable an individual who is experiencing mental health difficulties to achieve and maintain the highest level of health and wellbeing within their community.Mental Health Services offer more rewarding nursing career opportunities than you may be aware of. Our nurse led services allow extensive opportunities to fully engage in the delivery of holistic quality care, working with many other health care professionals such as Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Behavioural Therapists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, GP's, Social Workers, to ensure the best outcomes for service users and residents.In Dublin North City Mental Health Services who cover a catchment of 362,253 people, acute services are provided in the Department of Psychiatry, Connolly Hospital, Mater Misericordia Hospital and the Phoenix Care Centre. Our Community services operate in Blanchardstown, Cabra, Finglas, Clontarf, Marino, Fairview, Ballymun and the North Inner City.Mental Health Services actively encourage and support continual professional development as well as extensive access to rewarding career pathways. Nurses with experience qualify to apply for a variety of promotional managerial roles such as Clinical Nurse Manager, while those seeking specialist pathways can develop within roles such as Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Prescriber, Clinical Nurse Specialist roles and more.
