Job Description
The Bar Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of bar operations, ensuring exceptional service, effective staff management, and tight control of stock and cash. Operating within a high-profile venue, the role demands discretion, attention to detail, and a hands-on leadership style to uphold company standards and drive performance.
Job Responsibilities
Service & Standards
* Deliver outstanding guest experiences and maintain high presentation standards
* Lead by example with a hands-on approach, ensuring team engagement and motivation
* Implement promotions and ensure excellent product knowledge across the team
Stock Control
* Maintain and rotate stock levels
* Accurately record stock counts, discrepancies, and wastage/ullage
* Ensure secure filing and data input of stock records
Cash Control
* Manage cash floats and ensure accurate cash lifts
* Enforce strict cash handling procedures and issue receipts for all transactions
* Prevent stock and cash losses through effective controls
Staff Management
* Conduct staff inductions and ensure adherence to company policies
* Supervise bar and floor staff, ensuring courteous and timely service
* Promote a positive work environment and report incidents to HR
* Support recruitment, training, and development of team members
Security & Compliance
* Maintain control of keys and secure storerooms
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
* Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and work areas
Qualifications
* 5–10 years' experience in hospitality, ideally in a senior bar role
* Strong background in premium beverage service and wine management
* Excellent attention to detail and initiative
* Positive, solutions-focused attitude with strong communication skills
* Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
