Developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs) are devastating early onset severeneurodevelopmental disorders.
There is no cure, due to the inaccessibly of human brain and poor disease modelling.
This advert is for a full-time post-doc for neuronal modelling and therapeutics of KCNQ2/3-and otherDEE.Fromhuman patient-derived iPSC linesestablishedat Galwayalready the projectwill explore2D/3D-modelling for therapeutics, using state-of-the art techniques (e.g. neuronal induction, e-physpatch, MEA, calcium imaging, -omics, with therapeutic application) using facilities on-site at University of Galway.The project is highly collaborative, with international partnerships.
The main sitesareat the Human Biology Building(Physiology)and Human Biosciences(REMEDI),atUniversity ofGalway;in conjunction with Clinical Paediatrics.
Salary:Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associatesalary scale €46,805- €59,654per annum, (subject to the project's funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale.
This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on thepayscale(subject to the project's funding limitations), where evidence of prior years' equivalent experience is accepted indeterminingplacement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.
