Role Summary
Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, the Controls Technician 3 will provide technical support to equipment engineers for the improvement, installation, validation, and transfer of replicate custom automated equipment used in the scale‑up of manufacturing for existing or new Dexcom products. Duties include supporting cross functional equipment deployment teams while working with outside suppliers to meet equipment specifications and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble‑shooting functions.
Test performance of electro‑mechanical assemblies using test equipment.
Operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
Analyze and record test results, and prepare written documentation.
Perform operational tests and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
Carry out activities in equipment development under the supervision of the project engineer, including assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes, and electronics, and completing engineering studies and validations.
Follow Dexcom’s Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
Assume and perform other duties as assigned.
Perform all assigned tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
Update equipment‑related documentation (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.
Qualifications
Level 6/7 qualification and a minimum of 5‑8 years of related experience.
Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.
Ability to write routine reports, pass‑downs, and correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers, and managers.
Knowledge of and experience with PLC and automated production/process equipment essential; experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electro‑mechanical systems, and resistance welders highly desirable.
Experience with process improvement projects (e.g., improving yields, reducing downtime).
Proven ability to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication and personal interaction skills.
Knowledge of high‑reliability, high‑volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
Technical writing skills applied to manufacturing documentation and process development; experience in creation and revision of technical documentation.
