Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division – Longford plays a vital role in meeting global demand for diagnostic testing. In Ireland, Abbott has operated since 1946 and employs thousands across multiple sites. This opportunity is for a Product Planner in the Supply Chain Department.
Primary Function
As a Product Planner, you will be responsible for converting the global demand plan into an actionable production plan, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective products to our customers. You will play a key role in meeting performance targets through effective use of SAP and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role also involves scenario planning and developing contingency strategies to manage risks within the supply network.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct all activities in compliance with EHS regulations and Abbott’s global standards to protect human health, safety, and the environment.
* Act as a key stakeholder and decision-maker for assigned products.
* Lead planning efforts to meet supply commitments and commercial requirements.
* Develop and maintain production plans, ensuring smooth material flow and product availability.
* Manage inventory and maintain accurate data in the SAP ERP system.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational excellence and financial performance.
* Demonstrate Longford Behavioural Standards and contribute positively to the Planning and wider Supply Chain teams.
* Support product initiatives, including R&D and product changes, for assigned products.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
* Operates independently within the Planning team, contributing to team goals and supporting broader Supply Chain objectives.
Education & Experience
* A minimum of 18 months experience in a similar role or within a Supply Chain Department.
* A relevant qualification is required, preferably a degree in a related field.
* Professional certifications such as APICS or IIPMM are highly desirable, as they provide a strong foundation for success in this role.
