Our client is a large Construction contractor who is currently looking for a Construction Planner to join their team in Limerick.
The Role
In your role as Construction Planner/Scheduler, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate project programmes. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure that design, manufacture, and installation activities are properly sequenced and resourced to meet client deadlines and contractual milestones. This is a key operational support role within the business, bridging the workshop and site delivery functions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Programming
* Develop and maintain comprehensive project programmes covering design, procurement, manufacture, delivery, and installation stages.
* Work with the Contracts Manager to establish realistic and achievable timelines for each project.
* Generate regular progress reports and forecasts for the Management Team.
* Integrate workshop and site schedules, setting workload and targets for both teams.
* Regularly update programmes to reflect progress, delays, or design changes.
* Identify scheduling risks and constraints early and collaborate with team members to mitigate delays.
Coordination & Communication
* Liaise with internal teams — including Design, Procurement, Production, and Site Management — to gather accurate information on progress and constraints.
* Communicate programme expectations, milestones, and updates clearly to all stakeholders.
* Support coordination between workshop and site activities to ensure installations are fully prepared and materials are ready in advance.
* Assist in planning site logistics, access, and sequencing to maximise efficiency.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
* Track actual progress against planned milestones and report variances to the Contracts Manager.
* Prepare weekly or bi-weekly progress updates, identifying any potential delays or resource bottlenecks.
* Maintain accurate project records, including updated programmes, delay logs, and progress notes.
* Contribute to project review meetings and post‑completion analysis to improve future planning accuracy.
Process & Systems Support
* Help develop and maintain company‑wide planning templates, workflows, and reporting systems.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives in scheduling and project coordination processes.
* Provide data and insights to support project cost forecasting and resource planning.
* Ensure consistency of planning standards across all projects.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a construction planning, project coordination, or site management role within joinery, fit‑out, or construction.
* Strong understanding of construction sequencing, manufacturing lead times, and site operations.
* Proficient in Gantt or other Project Management software.
* Strong analytical and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively.
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, schedules, and specifications.
Desirable
* Experience working within a joinery or manufacturing‑led fit‑out business.
