Our Limerick based client is in the process of expanding it team and they are looking for an experienced Level 2 Network & Security Engineer with strong technical skills and hands-on experience in both networking and security operations. This role blends day-to-day support, SOC monitoring/incident response, and project participation.
You will be working across firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, SonicWall) and SASE solutions (Cato, Versa), while also contributing to SOC activities such as threat analysis, incident handling, and security monitoring.
They are looking for an engineer with the ambition to become a senior engineer and will offer exposure to enterprise networking and cybersecurity projects as the persons technical ability develops.
Key Responsibilities
Support & Operations:
* Provide Level 2 support for networking and security incidents.
* Monitor and manage firewall and SASE environments.
* Perform proactive maintenance, patching, and configuration changes.
* Escalate to Level 3 or vendor support when required.
SOC & Security Monitoring:
* Monitor SIEM dashboards and respond to security alerts.
* Perform initial triage, containment, and escalation of security incidents.
* Assist in threat hunting, log analysis, and vulnerability management.
* Document incidents and maintain SOC processes/playbooks.
Project Participation:
* Support implementation and migration projects under guidance of senior engineers.
* Assist in firewall upgrades, VPN rollouts, and SD-WAN/SASE deployments.
* Maintain accurate technical documentation.
Collaboration:
* Work closely with the SOC, senior engineers, and project managers.
* Contribute to a knowledge-sharing environment and continuous improvement.
Requirements
* 2–4 years' experience in network/security engineering or SOC environments, MSP experience would be an advantage.
* Working knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, SonicWall).
* Experience with SASE or SD-WAN solutions (Cato, Versa preferred).
* Exposure to endpoint security, EDR, and vulnerability scanning tools.
* Certifications such as NSE4, PCNSA/PCNSE, Security+, CCNA Security, or SOC analyst certs (e.g., Blue Team Level 1/2).
* Knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS).
* Familiarity with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, etc.).
* Hands-on troubleshooting skills for networking (routing, switching, VPNs).
* Strong analytical skills and ability to follow incident response processes.
* Full driving licence is essential.
