Design Build Search are working closely with a privately owned family business. Due to strategic growth throughout Ireland, they have an opening for a Head of Capital development and Design. Our clients annual turnover is more than €700m per year. The role combines strong project management leadership with innovation in store design. This role will be field based, with remote working and a requirement to attend our clients Dublin 1 office.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
10+ years delivering capital projects in retail or forecourt environments.
Proven experience managing multiple live projects.
Strong background in store design and refurbishment delivery.
Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver the annual capital programme across new builds, refurbishments, rebrands, and upgrades.
Lead projects from feasibility through to sign off and ensure the plan is delivered on time and in budget.
Lead the planning process.
Establish strong governance, reporting, and risk management.
Coordinate communications with marketing and retail teams to ensure effective handover of sites to retailers.
Prepare capital investment plans and appraisals for Board submission.
Store Design Innovation & Customer Experience
Drive innovation in layout, flow, signage, and merchandising.
Pilot new concepts across convenience, foodservice, and sustainability.
Develop a clear structure with KPI’s for maintenance and ensure planned and reactive maintenance are managed correctly.
Manage supplier and contractor base to ensure value for money, quality workmanship and service levels.
Budget & Supplier Management
Prepare detailed budget proposals on an annual basis using the company’s budget models and reporting formats.
Full accountability for capital cost control and forecasting.
Lead tendering and contractor performance management.
Deliver value engineering without compromising quality.
General
Attend and participate at monthly Management Co-ordination Meetings.
Contribute to organization and preparation for the annual staff summit and bi-annual Retailer Conference.
Maintain close links with key industry bodies and individuals.
Carry out any other duties as required.
