Senior Principal Accountancy Division at Brightwater
My client, based in Central Dublin, is one of Ireland’s leading educational, representative and regulatory bodies in Ireland. They regulate, educate, and represent their members, ensuring high standards, promoting justice, and providing member support. They are currently looking to add to their team a Finance Team Leader
The Finance Team Leader is responsible for managing and supporting the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable finance team. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, and maintaining adherence to internal controls. The role also plays a key part in the month-end close process, contributing to accurate financial reporting, audit readiness, and ongoing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and review monthly routine journals such as accruals and prepayments to ensure accurate month end reporting.
* Maintain and manage financial systems to support reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
* Oversee the preparation of management accounts for subsidiary entities.
* Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions to ensure timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
* Review coding of AP and AR postings to ensure accuracy and consistency with accounting policies.
* Ensure month-end and year-end closing activities are completed accurately and on time.
* Support external audit processes through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
* Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
* Liaise with other departments to resolve queries and improve interdepartmental processes.
* Provide guidance and support to the finance team to ensure continued professional development and performance.
* Assist the Senior Finance Team with implementation and improvements of financial systems.
* Support senior management by preparing or assisting with ad hoc tasks such as financial reports and analysis as needed.
Key Skills & Experience
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant.
* +3 years of experience in a similar finance environment.
* Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting principles.
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SUN).
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience in team leadership and development.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office tools.
