Fresh Food Manager – Supermarket – Co. Clare
Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Fresh Food Manager on behalf of our client's supermarket in Co. Clare. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fresh food professional to take responsibility for multiple fresh departments, driving food standards, sales performance, and team development in a fast-paced retail environment.
Salary: €40k – €45k
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operation of all fresh food departments, ensuring consistently high standards of quality, presentation, and availability
2. Lead, train, and develop fresh food department managers and teams, fostering a strong culture of performance and accountability
3. Drive sales, margins, and profitability across fresh food while maintaining tight control of waste and shrink
4. Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
5. Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, and availability to meet customer demand
6. Monitor KPIs and implement action plans to improve department performance
7. Work closely with store management to support overall store targets and initiatives
8. Ensure effective rostering and labour management across fresh food departments
Requirements:
9. Previous experience as a Fresh Food Manager, Deli Manager, or senior fresh food role within supermarket or convenience retail
10. Strong knowledge of fresh food operations including deli, butcher, bakery, or food-to-go (depending on store format)
11. Excellent leadership and communication skills with a hands-on management style
12. Proven ability to manage KPIs, margins, waste, and labour costs
13. Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety compliance
14. Organised, commercially aware, and able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment
15. Flexible to work across store trading hours, including weekends as required
