Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled HGV/Plant Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and maintenance of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), construction plant, and associated equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
* Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, construction plant, and machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
* Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs on-site and in the workshop.
* Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks on all plant and vehicle equipment.
* Maintain accurate service records and complete job sheets and defect reports.
* Liaise with site managers and operators to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Order and manage spare parts and consumables as required.
* Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns, including occasional out-of-hours support.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Qualified HGV Mechanic or Plant Fitter (e.g. National Craft Certificate or equivalent).
* Proven experience in maintaining and repairing HGVs and construction plant.
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
* Full clean driving license (HGV license desirable).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication and organizational skills.
* Familiarity with health and safety procedures in a construction or civil engineering environment.
