Our OrganisationThe Irish Social Enterprise Network (ISEN) is the national representative body for social enterprises in Ireland. ISEN works to ensure that social enterprises are recognised, supported and enabled to maximise their social, environmental and economic impact.ISEN represents and supports social enterprises across all sectors and regions, acting as a collective voice for the sector and a trusted partner to government, public bodies, funders, business and academia.ISEN'sVision is an Ireland where social enterprises are recognised as a vital part of a fair, inclusive and sustainable economy.Mission is to champion social enterprises, strengthen the ecosystem in which they operate, and enable them to deliver positive social and environmental change.Values include collaboration, integrity, inclusivity, accountability, impact and evidence-based action.ISEN's Current Work Includesrepresenting social enterprises in national policy development and advocacy;supporting the development and sustainability of social enterprises through research, resources, training and peer learning;promoting social enterprise and socially responsible public procurement;delivering and participating in national and EU-funded programmes that strengthen the social enterprise ecosystem; andconvening stakeholders across the public, private and community sectors to build effective partnerships.Learn more about ISEN at The RoleThe ISEN Board is responsible for the governance of the organisation, setting its strategic direction, and overseeing its financial sustainability and impact. This is a voluntary, non-remunerated role.We are seeking a Director with strong financial management expertise to join our Board. This role is particularly important as ISEN continues to grow its activities, diversify its income streams and manage multi-annual funding across national and European programmes.As a Board member, you will use your financial expertise to help ensure that ISEN is well-governed, financially robust and able to deliver on its mission in a sustainable way.What We're Looking ForWe are particularly interested in candidates who can bring some or all of the following:A relevant qualification and/or proven professional experience in finance, accounting, auditing or financial managementExperience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, cash-flow management and financial risk managementExperience working with charities, non-profits, social enterprises or other mission-driven organisations (desirable)Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly to a boardA good understanding of corporate governance, board responsibilities and regulatory complianceStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approachA commitment to high standards of ethics, integrity and transparencyAlignment with ISEN's mission, values and commitment to social impactPrevious Board Experience Is Welcome But Not Essential.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Director Of ISEN, You WillProvide strategic oversight and guidance on ISEN's financial health and sustainabilitySupport the Board in long-term financial planning and organisational strategyReview and advise on annual budgets, management accounts and financial statementsContribute to financial risk management and oversight, including reserves and funding diversificationSupport good governance and compliance, ensuring financial decision-making aligns with ISEN's charitable purposeWork collaboratively with fellow Board members and the executive team to support ISEN's mission and growthWhy Join ISENBy Joining The ISEN Board, You WillPlay a key role in shaping the future of Ireland's social enterprise ecosystemApply your financial expertise to support organisations delivering real social and environmental impactWork alongside a committed and knowledgeable Board and executive teamGain insight into national policy, social innovation and system-level changeContribute meaningfully to the long-term sustainability of a growing national organisationTerm Length and Time CommitmentThe initial appointment is for a three-year term, with the option to seek re-appointment for a further three years.The Board meets four times per year, plus the AGM.
